Willow Commons Adult Ceramics is a welcoming, hands-on studio course designed for adults seeking both creative expression and thoughtful craft. Rooted in process over product, this course offers participants the time, space, and guidance to work meaningfully with clay, whether you are brand new to ceramics or returning with prior experience.
Participants will explore both handbuilding and wheel throwing techniques, learning fundamental skills such as wedging, centering, forming, trimming, surface decoration, and glazing. Emphasis is placed on experimentation, refinement, and personal voice, with opportunities to develop functional pieces as well as sculptural work.
The studio environment encourages creative exploration, quiet focus, and community connection. Instruction balances technical demonstrations with individualized feedback, allowing each participant to progress at their own pace while deepening their understanding of materials, form, and finish.
Throughout the course, participants will gain familiarity with the full ceramic process, from raw clay to finished, fired work, while engaging in reflection, iteration, and shared dialogue around craft and design.
