Nature & Imagination is a collection of nature-inspired recent works by four Portola Valley artists working in glass, painting, and mixed media.

Karen Urbanek’s kiln-formed glass bowls are part of a recent series of vessels that symbolize the emotional memory of a place through color. Each piece comes together through a patient, iterative process of layering colors and patterns between multiple firings.

Gaja Frampton's paintings flow between landscape and imagination, translating the forms and moods of land, sea and sky into color and gesture. Through unraveling and reconstructing observations on canvas, she hopes to glimpse nature’s energy.

Allison Kroeger’s pieces are abstracted landscapes and imagined environments inspired by the natural world. Using unexpected colors and invented landforms, she creates places that feel both familiar, slightly unusual, yet inviting.

Emily Jagoda’s paintings walk a line between representation and abstracted reduction, attempting to savor some of the miracles of color and form in nature.
