As part of Service Week 2018 Priory will partner with World Challenge
to send an inaugural group of seniors to Vietnam. For this community engagement trip students will be in the Mai Chau Valley of northern Vietnam, where projects directly benefit the lives of low-income families. Based just 150km west of the capital, Hanoi, the Mai Chau Valley is host to a number of hill tribe communities, making it a melting pot of cultures and traditions. It is however, also host to large numbers of ethnic minority and low-income families in need of support. World Challenge
teams collaborate with local community organizations to support the lowest income families in the area. Since 2013, teams have worked with five villages in the valley to construct 31 toilets at the homes of families in need of support. By developing sanitation facilities in the villages, the project directly benefits the health of those residing there. This has a further impact on children’s education, as they are able to attend school regularly, and upon families’ welfare, as parents are able to generate sufficient income to meet their needs.
