It is with a heavy heart to share Father Pius Horvath passed away on June 23 in the Priory Monastery.
Father Pius arrived at the Priory in 1960 and for the past 58 years we have been blessed with his presence, kindness, smile, keen sense of humor and that twinkle in his eyes. On June 21, he celebrated the 65th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood and he was the last Monk from the Abbey of Pannonhalma.
While not directly involved in school operations as of late, he previously served as Prior of the Monastic Community, department chair and teacher of German and Latin, and our master linguist for over six decades.
Father Pius was Prior when Saint Anselm became involved with the Priory in 1975 and, for that, we are eternally grateful.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Priory Chapel at 10am on Saturday, June 30.
May God grant him eternal salvation and hold him in the palm of his hand.
