Adam Siler, Dean of Residential Life
Adam grew up outside of Richmond, Virginia. He received a bachelors degree in philosophy at the University of Virginia, a masters degree in education from Stanford University, and a masters degree in positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Since 2007 he has worked at the Woodside Priory School in a variety of roles: as a Residential Faculty member in the boarding program, as a teacher of history and psychology, as Chair of the History Department, and most recently as Dean of Residential Life. Adam is fiercely optimistic about the future of the world and believes that wellbeing is a birthright. He lives on the Priory campus with his wife, Megan, and their twelve-pound Maltese dog, Sam Seaborn.
Myles Somerville, Assistant Dean of Residential Life
Myles Somerville is from Middletown, RI and has lived on small islands off of New England his entire life. He attended Portsmouth Abbey high school, a Benedictine high school in Portsmouth, RI. In 2009, he graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Outdoor Pursuits and a minor in English. He also was a 3 time All South Eastern Conference lacrosse player for FSU. Besides being a Residential Faculty member, Myles is passionate about hiking, traveling, writing, and meeting good people in great places.
Kaitlin Bonfiglio, Residential Faculty
Kaitlin is a native Californian who attended Priory for middle and high school. She is thrilled to be back at the Priory, working with the boarding community! Kaitlin attended the University of Michigan for five years. There she received her Bachelor of English and her Master's degree in Education. Not only did she live in Ann Arbor for five years, but she also lived with a wonderful host family in Granada, Spain for half a year (and now has 5 adoptive sisters). She loves traveling, learning languages, working with young people, and poetry. In her spare time, she likes to play the following: piano, videogames, and pickup soccer.
Mary Castaneda, Residential Faculty
Mary graduated from the Priory in 2007 and is thrilled to return home as a part-time RF! She received her Bachelors Degree in Business and Marketing as well as a masters degree in Teaching from the University of San Francisco. Out of college, Mary began teaching kindergarten. (Yes, little 4.5 year olds!) During her time as a kindergarten teacher, she took her passion for education to the fitness world and became a Pure Barre teacher. After a few years of teaching kindergarten and Pure Barre, Mary left the classroom and became the owner of the Pure Barre studio in Palo Alto, CA. Mary is jazzed to work with students again and is looking forward to joining the boarding community. During her down time, Mary enjoys staying active, channeling her inner baker, knitting, going on food adventures, and walking her Shih Tzu, Riley.
Andrew Downey, Residential Faculty
Andrew Downey was born and raised in Kingston, NY, located in the beautiful Hudson Valley Region. In 2010, Andrew graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelors degree in secondary education (world history). Andrew was also a member of the Black Bear football team, earning 3 All-Colonial Athletic Association selections and a contract with the National Football League. Andrew is passionate about artistic expression, sustainable agriculture, and is an outdoor enthusiast.
CJ Gomez, Residential Faculty
C.J. grew up in the East Bay along with his four younger brothers , two of which attended the Priory! In 2012, C.J. graduated from California State University East Bay with a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy before continuing on to get his Masters Degree in Philosophy at San Francisco State this past year. C.J. is excited to begin his first year at the Priory as a part-time RF. Previously, he was a substitute teacher in the Newark Unified School District as well as a graduate teaching associate at SF State. Along with being an avid rock climber and martial arts practitioner, C.J. enjoys nothing more than learning from others about their culture and language.
Virginia Miu, Residential Faculty
Virginia Miu grew up in Hong Kong and is a graduate of Chu Hoi College. She was a textbook author for several years, before moving to the US and earning a Masters Degree in Math Education from the University of Texas. Virginia has taught all levels of mathematics at a number of schools including the Jewish Community High School, the Harker School, and Covenant of the Sacred Heart. This year, she will be teaching math at the Priory in addition to serving as a part-time RF. In her free time, Virginia enjoys flying planes, hiking, rock climbing, and hanging out with her family.
Nikhil Wadhwani, Residential Faculty
Nikhil Wadhwani grew up among the orange groves and almond farms of the California Central Valley. He is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and the Masters of Science Program in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University. Nikhil has taught narrative workshops for doctors, nurses, and social workers in training at UCSF School of Medicine, to help healthcare professionals develop skills for listening and interpretation. Nikhil currently teaches 9th grade English at Woodside Priory and is a Residential Faculty member. He was a boarding student at The Athenian School during his early years as a high school student. He is a rock climber, a tea aficionado, writes Asian American fiction, and makes a mean masala chai.
