This truly is an amazing community! Shortly before their ten-year reunion, Kimberly Carlisle '11 and Cary Hampton '11 began working with the Alumni Association to establish a memorial fund for Lizzie Somers '11. Just ten weeks later, we had surpassed our goal of $8,000 to make this a reality! Through the generosity of nearly 50 alumni, parents, faculty, staff, friends, and monks, construction of Lizzie's memorial is already underway and will be completed within the coming months.
We will continue to provide updates on the progress of the memorial. Ultimately, the Priory-style grandstand area will include bleachers, so fans have a comfortable place to cheer on the team, and a pavilion to cover the bleachers and protect the fans from the sun and heat. Landscaping is already underway, and the memorial plaque will be established before our alumni Homecoming event on October 23rd.
Those who still wish to contribute to Lizzie's Memorial Fund are still very welcome to do so! Through your generosity, Lizzie's memory will live on through future generations of Priory students. Her presence on the tennis courts will truly be felt by players, families, faculty, and friends.
