Dear Members of the Priory Community,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Directors, I am excited to announce the appointment of Patrick Ruff to become the next Head of School effective July 1, 2020.

With more than 25 years of experience in education, Patrick is joining us from the esteemed school St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco, California where Patrick has served as Principal for eleven years. St. Ignatius serves over 1,500 students in the 6th - 12th grades.

Patrick brings with him a considerable amount of Catholic school leadership. His passion for education has brought about a variety of roles over the past 25 years which consisted of a teacher, coach, moderator, Campus Minister, Assistant Principal, and Principal. Eleven years ago, Patrick and his wife Kerry Ann moved from Boston to the San Francisco Bay Area, where they now reside with their two sons, Matthew (6th grade) and Michael (4th grade).

The core to our search was finding a leader who understands and embraces the unique culture and values of the Priory.  We strongly believe Patrick has demonstrated this in his past roles, experiences, and during the search process. Patrick is a dynamic leader with a big heart for the whole student.  His approach in his previous schools has been consistent with “the Priory way.”

“I am deeply humbled to serve Woodside Priory and to build upon all that Tim Molak and his team have accomplished,” said Mr. Ruff. “It is the concept of educating the whole person – forming minds and hearts – that has driven my vocation in Catholic education the past 25 years and it will be an honor to serve this community so strongly rooted in the Benedictine values and tradition. Over the past decade, my respect for the Priory family has grown and I look forward to working with a dedicated faculty and staff, talented students, supportive families, and generous benefactors.”

Patrick’s appointment as the 15th Head of School for Priory is the culmination of an invigorating and inclusive search process supported by Carney Sandoe & Associates, which involved participation from many members of our Board of Directors, Trustees, Monastic Community, faculty and our school community over the past eight months.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Directors, I’d like to thank the entire Priory community for their engagement, support and guidance to take the necessary time to identify the best person to build on our educational mission and lead Priory into the future.

Always we begin again.

Please join us in welcoming Patrick and his family to Woodside Priory School!

Sincerely,

Mike Calbert
