Darkroom Photography with Fr. Martin Mager
Ever want to try your hand at processing film in the Priory photo lab? We will be spending time talking about the basics of photography (also applicable to digital photography), how to take better photographs, and what to do with all those photos that wind up in that bottom drawer somewhere. Developing and printing your own pictures will be fun and will undoubtedly produce images worthy of the DeYoung. We will also undertake the famous Alphabet Project! Some cameras can be loaned but if you can find that old non-digital camera let's put it to use.

Composition and design will be discussed during the slide show in anticipation of creating one's own ring. The second part of the course will focus on creating a glass object, using a flameworking torch, that will be incorporated into the finished product. The third part of the course will be devoted to learning the basics of silversmithing, and completing a cocktail ring. (workshop ratios : 1/4 design, 1/4 glass work, 1/2 silversmithing) No previous experience necessary. Because we will be using torches, this course is open to all participants 15 years old and older.
