Academics

Middle School

Welcome from Caitha Ambler

Welcome to the Priory Middle School!  The Priory is a special place to be a student.  Filled with challenging academics and a balance of engaging curriculum and enrichment activities, students are motivated to find their own strengths and talents in a nurturing school environment.  Priory teachers are dedicated to providing a rich and engaging learning experience for middle school students based on developmentally appropriate curriculum. This special time of growth and discovery needs to be supported by a strong school community.  Our five Benedictine values--spirituality, community, hospitality, integrity, and individuality--provide a strong foundation of values and personal responsibility.

"Balance in the Middle" is a philosophy that focuses on creating a balanced middle school experience.  Our goal is to provide a learning environment that supports a true middle school experience based on academic readiness and rigor along with enrichment experiences.  With strong academics at the core of our program, Priory middle school students are prepared for the challenges of high school.  They are also encouraged to participate in various activities to promote exploration in a variety of experiences and opportunities, such as the following:  orchestra, sports, drama, art, choir, student leadership, computer science, world languages, homework club, recess and more.  Middle school students also need time to "just be kids" and have some fun.  At the Priory, we create time for extracurricular activities, such as outdoor education, dances, open gyms, movie nights, class trips, retreats, and more to provide time for fun and bonding outside the classroom.  Our goal is to help create a structure that creates a special balance of challenging academics and time for self-exploration.  We encourage our students to find their own balance based on their personal interests, strengths, and passions.  This journey of self-exploration creates the foundation of becoming a lifelong learner.

We have several opportunities for prospective parents and students to visit our beautiful campus, including open houses and shadow days.  I hope we see you there.

Warm Regards,
